TSC Warns the Public About an Ongoing Scam.
The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has cautioned the public against engaging with a fake Facebook account, claiming to belong to the commission’s acting CEO, Evaleen Mitei.
In a notice on Tuesday, March 31, the commission termed the page as fraudulent and urged stakeholders to disregard any information shared through the account.
The commission has clarified that all its official commissions are only shared through its official social media platforms, including its Facebook page “TSC Kenya” and its X handle, both bearing a blue verification badge.

The fake account, ‘Mrs Evaleen Mitei,’ has 6,800 followers, follows 73 accounts, and has 62 posts. The profile uses the image of the Acting CEO and also features a misleading verification badge.
“The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) wishes to inform the public and all stakeholders that this page purports to belong to the Acting TSC CEO. Evaleen Mitei is FAKE and fraudulent,” TSC stated.
“Please note: Official communication by the Commission is only shared through the verified social media pages, i.e., TSC Kenya for Facebook and @TSC_KE on X with a blue verification badge,” it added.
The warning comes at the back of TSC’s instructions to all registered teachers not currently in active service to update their personal and professional information via its online portal.

In a notice published in MyGov on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, the commission said the move was part of a nationwide effort aimed at streamlining records and improving planning within the education sector.
The warning comes amid rising cases of impersonation of public officials and institutions, especially through social media platforms, to extort money from unsuspecting Kenyans.
In a statement on Wednesday, March 25, the agency said that the Tana Water Works Development Agency has cautioned members of the public against fraudsters posing as its officials and offering fake procurement opportunities.
Con artists have been making phone calls to individuals and inviting them to meetings under the pretence of offering procurement contracts at the agency while demanding advance payments, according to the agency.

The agency clarified that all its tenders and procurement opportunities are strictly advertised through its official website and local newspapers.
